Why We’re Building Borderless Rent
The problem
Have you ever tried paying your rent to a landlord that lives overseas?
It’s quite the educational lesson on what’s wrong with the financial system even in the 21st century.
- High fees,
- Long time for money to appear in the account.
- guessing FX rates,
- etc.
Every month, paying rent means a wire transfer, a multi-day wait, and a fee that’s never quite the same twice.
We’ve tried Wise. It works, for the most part but it’s not entirely simple, especially if your currency is not supported.
We’re not alone in this. Millions of tenants pay landlords in another country: expats, remote workers, international students, people renting
out a family property abroad.
All of them are stuck using tools built for occasional transfers, not monthly ones.
What we’re building
Borderless Rent is a simple idea: paying rent across a border should feel exactly like paying it across the street.
You send pesos. Your landlord receives euros.
What happens in between: the routing, the conversion, the settlement, that happens in the background, safely and fast.
No wallets to set up, no crypto to understand, no new habits to learn on either side.
Built on Stellar
Borderless Rent is being built on the Stellar network, which was designed to move money across currencies in seconds rather than days, working with compliant, licensed financial partners on both ends of every transaction.
Where we are right now.
We’re currently in early development, validating the problem and building out the core architecture.
